How Hollywood Wax Museum Went Bi-Coastal
We had one museum along the Pacific Coast, one in the mountains of Tennessee and a third near the Lake of the Ozark in Missouri. Then in 2013, Myrtle Beach caught the attention of the Hollywood Wax Museum team and we broke ground to build what now is South Carolina’s Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center. We officially became bi-coastal!
Myrtle Beach is a perfect vacation spot for couples, families and seniors – there’s so much to do for everyone. That’s one of the big reasons we were attracted to the area initially. But when we spotted a location that allowed us to be part of the city’s famous Broadway at the Beach, the decision was made to make it our newest home.
Now, travelers can take in all the fun of our attraction, get a great bite to eat, do some shopping and experience other entertainment venues, nightclubs and hotels, all on less than 400 acres in the heart of Myrtle Beach. Some of our favorite Broadway at the Beach to-dos include the candy superstore It’Sugar where you can find nearly anything to satisfy your sweet tooth, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen (definitely get the mouth-watering fried chicken!) and, since we obviously love celebrities, Legends in Concert where you can see five great acts on one stage.
Also just down the street, you’ll find one of our top recommendations for thrill-seeking guests – Myrtle Beach Speedway. At this attraction, you can actually suit up and zoom around a half-mile oval speedway in a real NASCAR race car. Or, for something a bit calmer, just a quick trip down 21st Avenue you can enjoy a minor-league baseball game at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ ballpark. Truly, there’s something to do for any age or interest.
On May 6, 2014 we hoisted the largest resident of Myrtle Beach up onto our building – The Great Ape of Myrtle Beach. It was quite the news with outlets such as Myrtle Beach Online, Myrtle Beach Life and NBC affiliate WMBF covering the 35-foot-tall Ape’s ascent.
We believe bringing Hollywood to Myrtle Beach has made a fun town even more enjoyable. We definitely know our 26,000-square-foot building adds to the color and excitement on the corner of U.S. 17 Bypass and 21st Avenue.
We have to say, we’re super happy to have made Myrtle Beach our home and have enjoyed sharing our attractions with the thousands of visitors that flock to the area for the beaches and entertainment the area has to offer. If you’re planning a visit, we’d love for you to come on by to see us! We know you have lots to do, so consider saving time at the box office and purchase tickets online.
