White Water Rafting – An Adventurous Thing to do in Pigeon Forge
Summer is nearing and there’s nothing better on a warm summer’s day than a dip in the sparking clean and wonderfully cool rivers in Pigeon Forge! It’s so much fun and, in our opinion, one of the best outdoor adventure things to do in Pigeon Forge. Let us tell you a little bit about it!
Pigeon River
The Pigeon River boasts two sections, upper and lower and has something for all adventure levels. Really, there’s no better place to try out rafting because the scenery you’ll enjoy is absolutely breathtaking!
The upper section of the river has some thrilling whitewater rapids. Locals have nicknamed portions of the 5-plus miles of lively waters with some fun names like Razor Blade, Too Late, and Vegematic, which definitely makes you wonder what you’re in for. But don’t fret because Pigeon Forge has some great rafting companies with trained and certified guides who put safety first (more on that later).
The lower section of Pigeon River is less about the rapids and more about scenic floating. The rapids are not nearly as…well, rapid, and the whole family will enjoy the laid-back pace.
What to Know
Be sure to pack your bathing suit and/or quick-drying clothes and remember your SECURE footware. The County River Officer won’t allow Crocs, flip flops or bare feet when rafting. We also recommend leaving your jewelry in the hotel safe, and securing your sunglasses with a safety strap. Nobody wants you losing those shades!
You’ll also want to bring along a towel and a change of clothes and shoes. After a couple hours on the river, you may want to head out to one of Pigeon Forge’s excellent restaurants, and dry clothes equate to a comfortable dining experience.
